Is it Good Being You?

Is it Good Being You?

Is it good being you?

I love asking that question when we do our Stress Teflon workshops/seminars for companies and small businesses. I love asking it because the range of responses you get is massive.  You get some people that respond with “yeah, it’s great being me”, while other people go, “Uhm, not sure. I guess sometimes”, or “no, it sucks being me”. Almost invariably, the ones that give the negative response are the people that don’t handle stress very well.

Stress is one of those things that we are designed to utilise. It’s meant to help us get things done. It’s suppose to help us achieve things and, back in the stone age, when larger animals were trying to eat us, stress kept us alive! The problem now is that we have turned stress into something that’s awful. We have turned stress into something that needs to be avoided at all costs. Stress makes people uncomfortable, and in doing so, they fail to see its positive attributes.

So, what I’m trying to do with Stress Teflon, is to get people like you, to have a look at stress differently.  I want to encourage you to look for things that are challenging, look for things that are going to give you growth, give you resilience and teach you the lessons that are going to make you a better person, make it good being you…

I find it interesting to hear who has read the book. Usually, it’s people that are doing really well, loving life. They have great careers and great relationships. They get the Stress Teflon message and they come back two or three days later after they have devoured it. These people tell me all of the things they have taken on board from reading it.

On the other hand, trying to get the stress-heads of the world to read the book is a nightmare! They are too busy and too stressed to spend a few hours on themselves. On the rare occasion, when I can get these people to read it, they come out of it with a mindset change. It has completely changed the way they look at things, and they are better equipped to take the steps needed to make it “good being them”.

So let me ask you, is it good being you? If it’s not good being you, and you are not comfortable dealing with stress, I really want you to read Stress Teflon. To be able to utilise stress you need to understand why you have it and where it comes from. Once you have mastered this, you are on your way to making stress “non-stick” It’s good being you when stress doesn’t stick.
